The Regal brand was launched in 1928 when Canada was only 61
years old. 81 years later and still a Canada only company, Regal
is a one-of-a-kind Canadian tradition.
In 1928 a young Canadian envelope salesman named William
McCartney began to notice that more and more greeting cards were
being used for Christmas, birthdays and more. At that time
greeting cards were hard to find so this budding entrepreneur had
a vision to sell greeting cards door-to-door and expand the
market.
So he found a small printer in Toronto and an investor with $500
and Regal was born! Intriguing to this story is that the investor
was a woman who later became Mr. McCartney's wife and she was the
one who gave Regal its name.
Mr. McCartney had founded something very unique, a made in Canada
direct selling company that would grow to span the country. This
Canadian idea was unlike almost all other direct sellers where
their concept was imported from the United States.
Over all these years Regal has never stopped being a Canada only
brand. One of very few Canadian catalogues, Regal has taken the
last few years and refashioned an image much more what old
William McCartney had in mind - a direct selling company with
local Representatives in communities across Canada.
BACK TO THE FUTURE... Regal announces made-in-Canada exclusive
Regal cards as part of the 2009 Christmas catalogue.
In honour of William McCartney Regal is going to go back to its
roots and will begin manufacturing their own cards, right here in
Canada, starting this Fall.
In the Christmas 2009 catalogue Regal is launching their own line
of "Made-In-Canada" Regal exclusive greeting cards. These cards
will have exclusive Regal designs - so they won't be found in any
other store in Canada and they will be value priced - so Regal can
compete with dollar stores and others who only carry cards made
in China.
Regal is very excited about the future of this new line and growing
something that everyone at Regal can be proud of... their own line
of cards, made right here in the country we love!
