(You can un-Subscribe the same way, any time that you wish.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- What is MARKETSMART? There is so much valuable marketing information out there but, if you are like me, you do not have the time to track it all down. I wanted to put together a Newsletter that included the combined wisdom of many great marketing minds and do it in a bite size format that we could all digest. After all, who really wants to wade through pages and pages of long articles? Surely not me! At last look, I did have a life that included family, friends, music, hiking, church and volunteer activities, etc. And I am sure you do too. I also decided a bi-monthly publication would be best for many of the same reasons. Anyway, after a brief intro, we will get to the Marketsmart marketing gems for this premiere issue.... Who Puts It Together? My name is Al Galasso. I am the Chief Editor, Typist, Proofreader and All Around Great Guy. With me I have enlisted the aid of dozens of similar great guys and gals and together we hope to present to you what we have learned about marketing through experience, work, trial and error, books, publications, seminars, by accident, through friends, and being in the right place at the right time. For the past 27 years, I have been Director of the North American Bookdealers Exchange, one of the largest book marketing associations, with over 1000 members in the U.S., Canada and many parts of the world. In this capacity I have had the privilege of working with some incredible and very creative people. I will introduce you to some of these wonderful folks in each issue. If you stay excited and convey that excitement in everything you write, your chances of creating a red hot ad or internet promotion is multiplied a hundred fold. Put Passion in Print. After all, if you are not 100% turned on by your products, how can you expect anyone else to be? Check out Russ von Hoelscher's Web Site at http://www.rvhfreegate.com. USE ACCELERATORS TO ENHANCE YOUR IMAGE TO CUSTOMERS Steve Sullivan's recipe for success is simple: "Other People." In his NABE Book of the Year, "Selling at Mach 1," Steve lists, what he calls, Accelerators. Some of these include Thoughtfulness, Kindness, Creativity, Integrity, Generosity, Sense of Urgency, and Responsiveness. Remember, when these were in vogue? They still ARE! Here are Accelerating Actions you can use to score points with your customers: Use handwritten notes on correspondence or personal e-mail messages; provide free information on subjects pertinent to their business; apologize to customers for blatant mistakes, handle all complaints quickly; send personal thank you cards; include free bonuses with their orders; if they have questions, answer them promptly; and give periodic gifts to some of your best customers. Build a long time relationship with your customer. As you take care of his or her needs, guess what? Your needs will automatically be met. Always give a little more than expected.
